Our Experience

Known for excellence in wood frame and mixed use podium slab designs developed through the past two decades, Cates Engineering has made a concerted effort to develop a highly technical team, capable of tackling the most difficult and complex designs placed before them. Our engineers have worked on structures varying from multilevel office building complexes, high-rise buildings, and mixed-use, multi-family developments to garden apartments and condominiums, public recreational facilities, and custom homes. This diverse experience enables us to address and provide solutions that will solve the most complicated design or address the smallest detail.

Our Philosophy

More importantly, we are known for our attention to the whole scope of the project, from the architect’s design and the owner’s requirements to the contractor’s needs in the field. We strive to develop a personal relationship with each member of the project team from the Owner to the individual Sub Contractors who make the design a reality. Our emphasis on both the design team and the owner makes for a more cohesive effort and a superior finished product, one that is designed on time and within budget. On the construction side, we make every effort to develop field friendly drawings and work with the contractors to help them succeed.
